Earlier this month insurer Conseco shifted more than 140000 long-term-care policies to Senior Health Insurance of Pennsylvania a not-for-profit trust that is supervised by the state.

Los Gatos preschool student dies at home from possible meningitis

The child whose identity was not released lived in Santa Cruz County and attended Stratford preschool in Los Gatos. According to health officials the child had not previously displayed any acute symptoms of the disease or complained of pain. Symptoms tend to be flu-like and can include fever lethargy headache skin rashes irritability and seizures stiff neck and photophobia or sensitivity to light. Meningitis is an infection of the spinal cord fluid and the fluid that surrounds the brain according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
