The survey results are based on data from more than 23000 interviews with American adults and more than 9400 interviews with adults on behalf of children in their households. The survey was conducted in 2007 as part of the annual National Health Interview Survey. It included questions about 36 common alternative therapies including 10 that are provider-based like chiropractic care and 26 that do not require a provider such as meditation. The last such survey of adult use of alternative therapies was conducted in 2002. Use of complementary therapies among adults has remained fairly steady in recent years with 38 percent of adults using some form of.

More than 250 children will be participating from the Sacramento Children’s Receiving Home St. John’s Shelter for Women and Children Sacramento Children’s Home TRIAD Family Services Sacramento Area Emergency Housing and the Boys and Girls Club of Sacramento. In addition to California Health Net will also host similar events in Virginia Arizona Connecticut New Jersey and Oregon. This year Health Net will host 1600 underprivileged children across the country. Over the past 19 years Health Net’s Celebration of Children holiday events have brightened the holiday season for more than 21000 children. “It’s a tradition for Health Net to forgo a company holiday party instead donating the time and money to host a ‘Celebration of Children’ event” said Steve Tough president Health Net Federal Services. “The events are a great experience bringing extra smiles and holiday joy to local children in these challenging times.
